                         Cherry Swirl Coffee Cake

  4               cups  Original Bisquick
     1/2           cup  sugar
     1/4           cup  margarine or butter -- melted
     1/2           cup  milk
  1           teaspoon  vanilla
  1           teaspoon  almond extract
  3                     eggs
  1                can  cherry pie filling (21 oz)
                        --Glaze--
  1                cup  powdered sugar
  1         tablespoon  milk (1 to 2 tbsp)

Heat oven to 350F.  Grease jelly roll pan, 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch, or 2
square pan, 9x9x2 inches.  Mix all ingredients except pie filling and Glaze;
beat vigorously 30 seconds.

Spread two-thirds of the batter (about 2 1/2 cups) in jelly roll pan or one-
third of the batter (about 1 1/4 cups) in each square pan.  Spread pie
filling over batter (filling may not cover batter completely).  Drop
remaining batter by tablespoonfuls onto pie filling.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until light brown.  While warm, drizzle with Glaze.
Serve warm or cool.  18 servings.

Glaze Directions:

Stir ingredients until smooth and thin enough to drizzle.

High Altitude (3500-6500 ft):  Heat oven to 375F.  Use 9-inch square pans.
Decrease Bisquick to 3 1/2 cups.  Add 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoon all-purpose
flour to Bisquick.  Bake about 25 minutes.

NOTES : Substitution:  You could also use 1 can of apricot, peach or
blueberry pie filling for an easy flavor variation of this recipe.

Variation:  This recipe is easy to cut in half.  Use one 9-inch square pan.
Use 2 eggs, and substitute a 10-ounce jar of fruit preserves for the pie
filling.  Divide remaining ingredients amounts in half.
