Hearty Breakfast Cookies

1/2 c butter or margarine, softened
1 c peanut butter
1 1/3 c packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2  t vanilla
2 t baking soda
1 t salt
1 c all-purpose flour
1 c whole wheat flour
1/2 c wheat germ
2 c quick cooking oats
1 t ground cinnamon
1 c raisins or chopped dates

In a large bowl, beat together butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and
vanilla until creamy.  Beat in eggs.  Mix together flours, oats, wheat
germ, salt, cinnamon and baking soda.  Mix into peanut butter mixture. 
Drop by ice cream scoopfulls 2 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets.
Flatten slightly.  Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.  Cool on cookie
sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to cooking racks.  Store in an airtight
