Eggnog-Glazed Spritz Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon rum extract
1 to 2 tablespoons hot water
Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixer bowl, combine butter, sugar, egg
and vanilla. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy, about
2 to 3 minutes. Reduce speed to low, add flour and nutmeg, and beat,
scraping bowl often, until blended, about 2 minutes.
Transfer dough to a cookie press and form desired shapes 1 inch apart on a
cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
To make glaze: In a small bowl, stir together sugar, butter and rum
extract. Stir in enough hot water for desired consistency. While still
warm, brush top of each cookie with glaze. Sprinkle with multicolored or
green and red decorator candies. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
