Italian Casserole

1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 32-oz jar spaghetti sauce
1/3 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. oregano leaves
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. pepper
5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese

Brown ground beef and drain. Add spaghetti sauce, water, salt, basil,
oregano, sugar, and pepper. Cook two minutes more. In a baking dish or
crockpot, evenly spoon 1/3 meat mixture, arrange 1/2 of potatoes on top.
Repeat layers, ending w/ meat mixture. Repeat layers, ending with meat
mixture. Cover dish tightly with foil (if using oven). Bake at 375F for 1
hour or (cook on low in crockpot all day or until potatoes are tender.)
Remove foil, sprinkle mixture evenly with Mozzarella cheese, bake 10
minutes more, or until cheese melts. (crockpot note: you can add the cheese
towards the end, or you can put the cheese in at the same time as the rest
of the food.)
