Saucy Penne and Three Cheese Bake

My mom just sent me this recipe she tried recently and really liked. She
said it's very similar to lasagne, but easier. Sounds good to me!

Saucy Penne and Three Cheese Bake
(serves 4-6)

1/2 (1 pound) package penne, cooked as package directs
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 (26-oz) jar spicy tomato and pesto pasta sauce
1 (15-oz) container ricotta cheese
8 oz. mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided (2 cups)
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 egg

Preheat oven to 350.  In saucepan, over medium heat, cook ground beef until
browned and pour off fat.  Add Pasta sauce.  In medium bowl, combine ricotta
cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese and egg.  In lightly greased
2 and 1/2 quart baking dish, layer penne, sauce mixture and cheese mixture.
Repeat layers.  Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese over top. Bake 35 to 40
minutes or until hot and bubbly.
