Test Execution Features

When you execute a test case, you can provide the following set of standard data:
- Result (values: Passed, Failed, Not Completed, Other)
You must select a value for the result; a note is optional.
In addition, your Test Planner administrator can create custom list and text attributes to capture execution information unique to your project or your workflow. The Test Planner administrator can also specify whether a particular custom attribute requires a value or not.
The screen shot below shows the standard attributes, plus the following custom attributes for the 'Email client' project:
- 'Defect ID' - a text field that does not require a value; in this project, if a test case execution fails, the tester can add in this field the ID of the defect that was logged for the failure
- 'Build tested' - This is a text field that requires a value. For the 'Email client' project, the same test cases will be executed repeatedly for multiple builds. By requiring the tester to specify the build of each execution, the test team knows which test case was executed for each build.
